Doing HIS Time Prison Ministry (DHT) was founded in 1999 by Jim Vogelzang. Doing HIS Time is a Christ-centered ministry that delivers practical, hands-on solutions to the challenges associated with incarceration and reintegration for inmates, ex-offenders and their families. By providing either transportation on visiting days or clothes and hygiene items upon release, DHT becomes the “face and hands of Christ” to this community.
Interview with Founder Jim Vogelzang
Doing HIS Time founder Jim Vogelzang recently sat down for an interview with Joy In Our Town host Tina Lombard on TBN’s KPJR-Denver to talk about the origins of the ministry and his experiences in working with inmates, ex-offenders and their families.
These are the practical solutions offered by Doing HIS Time:
Barn-A-Bus-Colorado™ assists the Holy Spirit in keeping families together by providing low cost/no cost transportation to/from the correctional facility in which their loved one is staying.
This ministry is available only in the state of Colorado at this time.
72 Hour Fund-Colorado™ makes the “face and hands of Christ” visible with reintegration assistance within the first 72 Hours after release from prison, including help with vital documents, driver’s licenses, clothes, bus tokens and potential volunteer and job opportunities.
The inmate devotional Doing HIS Time: Meditations and Prayers for Men and Women in Prison (Doing HIS Time) was written by founder Jim Vogelzang in association with Lynn Valderzalm. These meditations and prayers are written in inmate language using the culture and anecdotal evidence to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to them in a way that will be understood.
